The Nottingham Haunted Museum, formerly the Mapperley Cinema, and before that an old-time picture house, is often thought of as one of the most haunted locations in the UK.
It originally opened in the 1920s and has since become famous for it’s creepy voices, eerie noises and haunted hallways. The old picture house was bought last year and converted into a Haunted Museum by Marie and Steve Wesson, ghost hunters and paranormal artefact collectors.
Shortly before the museum was opened to the general public last year a door was discovered behind a false wall but it was welded shut as if something terrible was behind it.
The Wesson’s have reported hearing many voices in the Nottingham haunted museum warning them not to open the door. The couple did admit that the ghostly warnings put them off of opening the door for some time but it seems they’ve gotten over it as they cracked it open last Thursday.
What they found was quite surprising.
The Mirror reports that beyond the door was a small bricked room, on the floor was a pentagram made from what looks like charcoal, a few used-up white candles and a tired looking teddy bear. In terms of stuff you want to find behind a welded door, this is pretty high on the creepy scale.
Marie Wesson freely admits this is not the type of stuff they’re into and it’s not the focus of the Nottingham haunted museum.
“We’re paranormal investigators not satanists so were are going to have to get on it to find out as much as we can about it.”
We here at Creepy Times know that pentagrams are used by everyone and their moms for just about everything. From the 5 wounds of Jesus to the 5 stars of whatever is popular that month, it’s a symbol that’s been pushed by Witches, Greeks and Freemasons alike. Now that’s a party! The candles don’t help much either as they’re fairly ubiquitous in many different types of ceremonies.
The bear though… that’s just wrong.
Before opening it up the Wesson’s claimed that they could hear scratching coming from behind the door which, of course, ratchets everything up a notch.
For now, the door has certainly paid off with another great mystery and some genuinely disturbing thoughts.
